Become an EASTON VOLUNTEER!

Learn More About Yourself, Do More Than You Ever Thought Possible, VOLUNTEER Today!

Have You Ever...

  • ...been in a situation where someone was hurt and you wanted to step in and help?
  • ...seen an accident and wanted to assist the people involved?
  • ...wanted to get more involved in the community you live in?

If you said YES to any of the above, you should consider joining the Easton Volunteer Fire Department. There are many benefits of membership including training/education, lifelong friendship, and community involvement - just to name a few! There are a number of different roles a person can fulfill within the department and each job helps us create a safe community for our families. Members come from a wide variety of backgrounds and ages. There is something for everyone at the EVFD

  • FIREFIGHTER: 18 years or older. Men and women who work hard to fight fires, rescue people, save property, and do a lot of training. Firefighters may progress to become driver/operators of the apparatus and officers that lead fire crews and provide emergency incident command.
  • CADET:16 to 18 years of age. Young adults who work hard learning how to fight fires, rescue people, save property, and successfully complete the required training. Cadet firefighters may strive to someday become driver/operators of the apparatus and officers that lead fire crews and provide emergency incident command. Cadets particpate in fire and rescue activities in an "apprentice" type role while learning the necessary skills to function as a firefighter upon reaching their 18th birthday.

As mentioned above, all firefighters and cadets are required to complete basic fire and emergency medical training upon becoming active members. All training, uniforms, protective equipment, and on-duty insurance coverage is provided at no cost. In-house training courses and drills are held regularly, as well as at the county, state and national level in all areas of fire/rescue. The possibilities are limited only by your desire to learn. But the experiences and rewards of being an Easton Volunteer will last your entire life. So why not join our emergency services family today?

Fire hydrants are ugly. We understand. Most of us would even agree. But it is crucial to keep hydrants clear and unobstructed. The Easton Volunteers recently responded to a reported house fire and when looking for the hydrant this is what we found.

Please maintain the area around fire hydrants. Please do not plant bushes or other plants around them. If and when our area gets snow consider shoveling out around the hydrant.

When we arrive to a fire every second counts. Please do your part to help us keep Easton safe.

Text-to-911 Service is Now available in Talbot County. Please share widely ... Text-to-911 Service is Now Available in Talbot County and across Maryland

Talbot County, Md. (August 20, 2020)—Effective today, 911 call centers across Maryland will begin accepting text messages via text-to-911 service.

Customers of the three major wireless carriers (AT&T, former Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon) who are enrolled in their carriers’ text messaging and/or data plan can send text messages to 911 in an emergency when they are unable to place a phone call. This includes those who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or speech impaired, those who may find themselves in a situation where placing a voice call could put them in danger, or those who are experiencing a medical emergency and are unable to speak.

“We are thrilled to officially launch text-to-911 service here in Talbot County and across Maryland,” said Clay Stamp, Emergency Services Director,” While a phone call is still the preferred way to contact 911, the ability to send a text message to 911 gives residents and visitors, particularly those who may have difficulty placing a voice call, better access to emergency services.”

If you are in need of emergency services and unable to place a phone call, you can enter 911 in the “To” line of a new text message and begin your message with the location of the emergency and the type of help needed—police, fire, or emergency medical services. Once the message has been received at the 911 call center, a 911 specialist will respond. You should be prepared to answer questions and follow instructions.
