July 14, 2010 Rescue Box 6-7
At about 14:30 Wednesday July 14, Talbot Center dispatched the EVFD, Paramedic 96 and Paramedic 90 for Rescue Box 6-7, an MVC on Dover Road at the bridge on the Talbot side. It was reported head-on and serious. Chief 61 (Jones) arrived confirming 2 vehicles head-on and established "Dover Road" command. Captain Jones then reported that there was heavy entrapment in the SUV involved and a "rapid extrication" would be needed due to the critical nature of injuries. Aviation was also requested at this time. The passenger of the SUV was having an active seizure and was extricated by EMS quickly. Rescue 61 arrived and went to work on extrication of the driver, who was heavily trapped. Engine 68 arrived and assisted in extrication. The patient was removed from the vehicle in about 18 minutes. Both patients were taken to the LZ on the Caroline County side of the bridge and flown to Shock Trauma. A third patient was transported to EMH for minor injuries. The road was closed for about 1 1/2 hours to clean up the scene.
